Help me understand how Note Repeat is supposed to work

Hi All,

i cannot understand how note repeat is supposed to work.

It makes sense that a pad should be assigned 1/8th notes ( a closed high hat for example)

But then, every other pad I play, in every different mode, ends up playing that same note repeat value, when i need the kick & snare pads to just be normal & the high hat to play 8th notes when i’m holding that pad down.

But that’s not what touchable does…are there any thoughts you might have as to how it’s working well for you?

Thanks!

I never understood why all note repeat worked the same way. Finally ! Touchable did the thing different !Yesterday i spent 1h enjoying to play the note repeat with groove with the way touchable note repeat work . but How about a quantization for each pad with the possibility of deactivating it for each pad. that would be a great way to play deeper with !

Ah! thanks for your reply @zengel so you’re saying that I’m not doing anything wrong. That note repeat is supposed to be applied to all pads when active & that’s not useful to you as well?

not totaly . I don’t know what is wrong or right and i suppose that is right for you is wrong for other people. it’s a matter of taste i suppose.
In fact i say that note repeat (in general) work the same way in lot of hardware and software device. all pad and sticked on the tempo (like on push)
On touchable pro it is synchronous with the tempo but not sticked on it (quantized) . and i love that , i find it creative. and to go further i would love to see the possibility to to have different speed (like 1/4, 1/8, 1/16) definable per pad. like , for drum , kick on the 1/4, HH on the 1/2 etc…but for each pad cause you can already do that for 2 pads by splitting the screen . And finally yeah, having the choice to quantize the note if you want to stick to the tempo and even have no note repeat at all on some pad simultaneously . .

But , i tested the regularity of the note repeat between push 2 , touchable 3 and touchable pro.
push 2 is perfectly synced and the swing is perfectly swinged to , touchable 3 almost perfect and touchable pro, there are literally “groove” in the note repeat, absolutely not regular. i love it ! even if i think that it is not the way it should be  . But all other are perfectly aligned

To get pads to note repeat at different speeds do this:

Enable “toggle” mode
Touch the first pad
on the right side of the pad, choose the speed to repeat , for example 1/16
touch a second pad
on the right side of the second pad, choose the speed to repeat, for example 1/2

Now you can turn those pads & repeats on & off by touching the left side of the pads.
Pads will default to the speed chosen in the note repeat menu.

I hope this is helpful!

thanks ! i forgot this ! but no, that’s cool for “programming” but for live performance, it is not. and each time you toggle you have to set again the quantification. the best for me will be to configure each pad with a a quantification before, and use it on a “hold” mode. or not ! if you want to have a pad without note repeat , you could
