Hello everyone. Are there ideal computer / tablet configurations for running touchAble stably? I have a feeling the recent ‘Windows server + USB driver’ release relates to this question…
It seems there are compatibility and USB driver issues when mixing operating systems, for example touchAble on an iPad with Ableton on a Windows PC… is it better to stick to all devices running Windows, or all Mac (OSX / iOS / macOS)?
I currently use an iPad Air 2 in conjunction with a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. Currently my setup is not working, and I often have difficulty establishing a successful connection between the devices.
(“Control Surface not responding” message on the iPad, despite laptop saying connection is good. I follow the instructions for clean install of touchAble server/script, iTunes and the touchAble Apple USB drivers, but typically end up back in purgatory.)
In the past I used touchAble with the same iPads, but with Ableton on a MacBook Pro. Never had any connection issues. I also used an old Samsung Galaxy tablet on Android, but that one get updated out and can no longer run touchAble.
For my current setup, I am wondering if using a Microsoft Surface or Lenovo tablet (w/ Windows OS) with my Lenovo ThinkPad laptop would eliminate connectivity issues? Another criteria - I would prefer to connect via USB rather than over wifi. Which tablets play nice with Lenovo laptops? Would using a Lenovo tablet avoid driver issues?
I appreciate anyone’s thoughts on this. Any info at all about computer-to-touch device compatibility in general would be helpful. Thanks, Yem
