studiomux 5 beta

Hi Pascal ! Many thanks again ! Did you include the MPE in this package ?

Hi,

only partially on server side. Can you recommend an App that supports MPE, so i can properly test it. I rember that someone already recommeded an app, but the developer never got back to me :).

Best

Pascal

You can try the swam horns, geoshred, AD continua, volt, quanta. All these use the MPE protocol.

installed both studiomux app and server version 5.056 and:
Midi from iPad to computer works – hurrah!!!
I still don’t fully understand midi-routing inside studiomux, but some day there will be a manual, I guess.
Sending Midi from MidiDesigner to Logic worked immediately, without touching anything.
Ah, and also Midi to desktop, as announced in testflight. Great!

Geoshred would be good starting point as a controller.
Good luck

Hi,

i integrated and tested the MPE functionality from desktop to Animoog/Volt, and MPE via VST/AU in combination with Ableton. Actually i just modified the Channel Pressure value, what i expected to be one of the MPE parameters next to slide. And the transmission works fine now.

What i have not yet implemented is the other way around.

I will upload the current state now and it would be great, if you would us send feedback.

I will contact the developer, ask him for a Redeem code. Thanks.

I remember someone was asking for sending Pitch Bend to the Studiomux Plugin: Unfortunately Steinberg dropped support for incoming CCs since VST3. I cannot find the official statement right now, but it is discussed here:

This macOS server download link from the most recent beta release is dead.

Hi,

forgot to update this one. Our server builds are reliable again and the change logs and laltest server can be found in the beta section of our homepage:

Just updated to the latest server and studiomux build. Crashed on loading Animoog and now when starting studiomux up on ipad I only get a black screen then crash.
The UI and options are looking good, just not stable for me yet on 2018 Ipad pro.
Would also be cool to have a studiomux beta forum so we don’t have to scroll, wait to load, scroll here. :v:

Sorry to hear. Could you please try to delete the app completely and reinstall it.

You can circumvent the scrolling, by clicking the curent date in the timeline you see on the left ;).

even more problems now with server 5.070 and app v. 5.057:
many IAA apps in Inputs cause studiomux to crash. AUM is ok, this is good, because this is the only app that I will need at the end.
But in the FX slot I am not able to insert any IAA instrument or effect. Audio Units work.
To be honest, I am not quite sure, but I think, these problems started when I updated iOS to 14.5 recently.
What I also see is, that audio between IAA connections is still not well synchronised. Audio input from computer crackles sometimes, and when switching from studiomux to the plugin, pitch changes. It takes a few seconds until it is stable.
I followed your advise to delete the app and reinstall it, but did not help.
Any progress for routing incoming audio to AUM?
Thanks for your efforts!

Update:
deleted version 5.057, installed 5.056, restarted iPad: no change.
So it looks like iOS 14.5 produces new troubles again. I am absolutely sure that IAA effects worked properly in the FX slot before I made the iOS update. Only, I am not sure, if I installed 5.057 before or afterwards.

Hi Pascal,
I updated studiomux app to 5.071 right now. FX slot accepts IAA plugins again, but they don’t work. In iVCS3 the audio engine is stopped, for instance. While, when I insert it in the input slot, it works.
Strange is now, that the symbol in the upper right corner does not change, if connected to the server via USB. Tapping on it shows USB, but the symbol keeps on spinning.
Server (Mac) shows the connection.

My laptop’s fans started humming at 6000rpm while it was asleep on my desk so I woke it to see what was happening. Look at this!!!

Hello. I need your help.
I sort of was able to figure out the server.
Uninstalled iTunes, cleaned up the system, found the recommended version 12.10.8.5 here. But it was she who was not on the link, in any case she is not here https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes. (That version of iTunes 12.10.8.5, which I found on the Internet, I can post where you tell me if you suddenly need it.)
I downloaded the server version studiomux_5.072.exe from the link (https://zerodebug.com/#/beta) provided here.
After installing the server and reinstalling the iTunes version to 12.10.8.5. The server stopped disappearing, the plugins were installed.
Unfortunately, the connection does not occur. The server is running, plugins run on the host, but Ableton crashes when trying to select a channel or device in the plugin interface. Bitwig simply disables the plugin. The server menu says Active Connections 0.
I have Windows 10 Pro version 1909. OS Build 18363.1533
The latest version of iOS on the iPAD is 14.5.1. Studiomux starts on the ipad, it seems like it loads the tools. But nothing can be output to the computer. ((
Is there anything you can do? To fix the situation. Help friends with advice.

I used to be angry, but now I feel so sorry for Pascal. Fight this irresponsible, indifferent behavior of Apple, towards its partners, towards users. And survive in this toxic environment.

Hi,

We observed the same behaviour. It seems like the FX are bypassed and not accepting incoming audio anylonger. Not sure, if the latest iOS (we tried with the latest release version and the latest beta) requires a different method to transmit Audio to IAA effects. We will let you now, as soon as we find a solution to that problem.

the servers high cpu workload should been fixed both in windows and mac.

Sorry for all the problems with the third party libraries. Unfortunately Apple doesn’t officially support USB transmission on windows anylonger, therefore the install of the legacy iTunes version is mandotory. In the latest server the server will search for all required libraries (Apple/Virual MIDI) and log the result (found libraries, its version and the required target version). We will now try to automate this process and help installing the proper libs automatically in case a lib is missing or a wrong version is installed.

Thank you very much for not giving up! I’m with you. Perhaps it makes sense to release Studiomux for other platforms, for Android and even for Windows, this would make it possible to connect hosts on one computer. There is a jack, but I would not say that the procedure for connecting it is painless (I did it a couple of times, cool … although there is no synchronization, but it would be magic at all. Unfortunately, this is very difficult so far, you have to understand a lot and look at the tips of colleagues that Vienna Ensemble Pro works very reliably, but unfortunately, they are only occupied by the performance of the VST, their libraries and processing, there is no way to connect arbitrary two hosts. Yes, a lot is happening …
And thank you again for your work.

Unfortunately, so far it has not been successful. I can’t connect. The strange thing is that when you download the VST plugins there the version does not coincide with the server version 5.085, while the plugin has version 5.075 (I don’t know there may be some error here). Although I deleted them and copied a new one from the server menu. Abelton crashed a couple of times when trying to load a plugin. The application itself on the iPad did not start for the first time, then it started but did not load the tools, then it worked. “IAA” loads, if you try “AU” immediately turns off the interface. Tried it in a different sequence. But so far no positive results. Well, let’s hope there is a solution. If any test manipulations are required, please let us know.

Hi,

sorry to hear, that it is not working properly, could you maybe send a studiomux log, you will find it inside studiomux’s install folder: 5058.log. You can simply upload it here, by dragging it into the text field.

Yesterday, i gave the latest iTunes (from Microsoft Store and Apple)versions another try. The one from Microsoft store comes without any public accessible libraries.

But it is possible, to install the required libraries (see links below), afterwards.

iTunes downloaded from Apple one library that comes with the wrong libraries. And the ones needed cannot be installed afterwards, since they are older.

The only driver that are working are the ones below.

To get MIDI working, it is required to install the virtual MIDI driver:

We are VirtualMIDI licensees. It allowes us to create more than one MIDI Port on windows. In case an older version of rpt MIDI or loopMIDI has been installed it has to be uninstalled before installing VirtualMIDI.

I found two logs there, 5071 and 5085.

Of course, it’s a pity, but it’s okay, if you can fix it, it will be fine, there is nothing to do, as I see you are doing everything you can … This is more a question for Apple and idiotic trends in the market. I did what you asked, I hope I got it right.

Could you name the exact naming of this version? In general, it would be better to make a pinned link here for Windows users.

There is also a question here. Is there a need to prevent independent actions of ITunes, and what is the best way to do it? I would be grateful for recommendations on this topic.

By the way, perhaps the reason is this, I have a license for LoopBe30 and I haven’t updated it for a long time. It’s just that they have everything done like that. Not a personal account, it is not possible to identify yourself, everything is in the manual mode of inquiry.

Thank you!
