studiomux 5 beta

Congratulations!

Audio without distortion for the first time in Win 10 ( Ableton 11 )

This is a huge leap forward, great work!

Will report back when the new Test Flight app is ready, to see if it resolves some of the remaining issues…Fantastic! Thank You!

Server version 5.044 seems to be more stable on Mac, too.
But there is still no Midi from iPad to computer, and no audio from the effects plugin to studiomux app.
That is, I can see in the level meter of the receiving channel, that audio is coming in, but it goes to nowhere. Hope, this will come soon …

I’ve tried every version of the server I can find, including 5.044, and it crashes on startup on Windows 10.0.19042

During the install I see 4 instances in the tray that go away after a few moments, subsequent attempts show up in the tray briefly and go away. Clicking or right-clicking gets no results.

Am I missing something obvious?

It could be that you have a version of iTunes installed that doesn’t support Studiomux. Versions after 12.10.8.5 don’t work. Here is how to uninstall it:

How to Downgrade iTunes 12 for Windows to an Earlier Version

Then install this one :

https://www.filepuma.com/download/itunes_64bit_12.10.8.5-26332/

Or if you don’t need iTunes the new Beta server will install everything you need to run Studiomux on your PC without it. ( You may have to install RTP Midi separately. )

Thanks - I’m using the beta server, but it apparently does need that version of iTunes - I never had any version of iTunes previously.

I’m using Bitwig, and whenever I connect the VST to a channel on my iPad I get a loud regular clicking noise. The audio from the iPad comes through, but the noise remains.

Sorry , I can’t help you with Bitwig, that’s one for @Pascal, but the server is running now?

Yes, the server is running - it connects to the iPad just fine, gets sound from a synth on channel 1.

Even before I load any synth though I get that clicking sound - it’s on all channels, the clicking pattern changes on each channel but it seems random.

I tried in Reaper as well, same result.

I’m using a Komplete Audio 6, 64GB ram, I7-10875H 2.3GHz, 8-core

I tried changing the buffer size, but that didn’t change anything.

Further update - changing to ASIO fixed the problem.

I tried using the built in sound card as well, same thing - clicking with WSAPI, works great with ASIO.

Can someone give me a hint on how to resize the auv3 plugin windows ? With geoshred I cannot access the right side of the plugin.
Also I exeprience disconnections while playing notes… On the auv3.

Don’t think it’s working yet, still a work in progress. If you have AUM, or Audiobus, you can put an instance on a Studiomux channel , & then launch your AUV3’s inside that. All you need to do is select the output as Studiomux. in AuM or Audiobus. Your AUV3’s will now scale as they should & the audio can be sent to your PC or Mac. The routing is far superior than Studiomux in either of those, & is my preferred way of working.
Hope you find this useful…cheers…

I’m really glad this is all finally happening. This app is one of the main reasons I’ve kept my iPad and it was heartbreaking to have to remove it from my workflow when it became really inconvenient to use with windows 10 and newer versions of iOS. Very happy to see progress is coming along and cannot wait for the release!

Good luck @Pascal we’re all rooting for you <3

Will the final version support the current itunes version or is this a general issue?

Thanks it works with IAA (which will be deprecated one day or another)… So I routed AUM to studiomux via IAA, I don t know how to do this with AUv3.
One more question, do you how to send MPE data from bitwig to studiomux ? Geoshred seem to receive midi data from one channel only, so I cannot play the mpe…

I meant that the AUV’3s will now scale properly when you open them in AUM (or Audiobus) & them you are only using Studiomux to pass audio & midi to through your PC or Mac. it’s a much better solution. As for IAA don’t be worried about deprecation, they will be fine. Even if Apple remove all support Audiobus & AUM will most likely keep supporting their connectivity indefinitely.
Sorry can’t help with Bitwig, I have never used it, maybe they have a forum or something? Wouldn’t it be better to be sending MPE from Geoshred to Bitwig anyway?

Thanks ! Bitwig can do clip sequencing with MPE data which is quite unique, and would like to use this with the MPE apps such as geoshred and audio modeling stuff. Way cheaper than the desktop price and makes it possible to spread the CPU load among several devices, that’s a great opportunity. I don’t think the problem is on the Bitwig side, as I managed to send this data via the Iconnectaudio4+, I think it’s on the studiomux side !

Ah yes i see…that’s really interesting…Bitwig is really ahead of the curve in this area…MPE has only just been implemented in Ableton.

You need to ask Pascal if they are going to add MPE support to Studiomux…

Hey @Pascal we need your help :+))))

So I’ve made some progress in Bitwig, by creating one midi port by instrument in Bitwig (as it uses several midi channels), and use the HW instrument to send midi to this port it works. But it’s buggy as hell (heck in the midi section the port looks like a sun with all these rays :-)))) ). Reverting to my Iconnectmidi for the moment.

Latest version works in Ableton Live 11 (synths & midi only, tested with Animoog), but no luck in Studio One 5: midi is ok, but i just get crackles… but local iPad sound is crystal clear

Hi,

currently it is not possible to change the AU size, but we are working on it. Changing the size of the windows is not as trivial as it sounds, since our app’s gui is rendered with Open GL. The AUv3 view is not part of our rendercontext.
