studiomux 5 beta

Hi again,

we found some strange behaviour on windows and mac, the VST3 install seem to partialy fail updating all subcomponenents during installation process, we could not yet fix the install process, so please when installing the new server, make sure to delete the old VSTs before:

on windows, please delete:

-> …/Zerodebug/studiomux/studiomux_plugin_effect.vst3
-> …/Zerodebug/studiomux/studiomux_plugin_instrument.vst3

-> …/Program Files/Common Files/studiomux_plugin_effect.vst3
-> …/Program Files/Common Files/studiomux_plugin_instrument.vst3

on mac please delete:

-> …/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/studiomux_plugin_effect.vst3
-> …/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/studiomux_plugin_instrument.vst3

New server for mac and win

We wil try to fix the installation process now…

Just want to confirm - since I’m running ios 14.3 it’s not going to work, correct?

I’ve just updated everything again - carefully - and though the ios app isn’t crashing like it was upon launch it just doesn’t seem to be connecting or finding my Macbook

Still no vst3 are picked up buy cubase 11 or by live 10.they are installed.
High Sierra.

Hi again,

sorry for all the hustle regarding connection… we found the bottom of the connection issue. One of the main communication callbacks had an undefined behaviour, which caused the isssue. The issue only appeared on some systems and onlye in the testflight beta. We already uploaded a new beta. The fix has already been included in the latest servers, but you need to downgrade to an older studiomux beta, or wait for the new version to get the connection working reliable.

Hi,

we haven’t yet tested with cubase, just with steinbergs VST test host, but as i remember cubase is as picky with plugin signings as Logic. We will start testing with cubase now.

Hi,

no studiomux will run on devices with iOS9.3 and higher.

Hey Pascal - I don’t mean to be trouble, but there’s a lot of moving parts here and I’m just trying to make sure I’m beta testing correctly for you:

I’m on OSX 11.1 and iPad Pro iPadOS 14.3

I should be running Studiomux server v 5022
Should I be using ios Studiomux v 5017?

If so I’m still getting no connection; I’ll try deleting everything again - server, vst3, ios – if this is the setup you think should be tested

I’ve also made sure to delete any IDAM setup I had.

Hi,

to get it working properly, you will have to wait for the next beta App or use a previous beta version, that did not include the connection issue. Version [5.016 (1907)] should be fine. It will work with the latest Server 5.022

Just another day in the office, eh?

Hi Pascal, I just tried 5016 & 5015, but neither of them work with win 10 & latest server. Will await the next app Beta.

Thanks ID love to beta test but testflight wont work on my ipad. why not release studiomux 5 on the app store and just call it beta? So we can all try using it to report problems?

Hi, be careful the last Beta vst release for windows is dangerous for your ears and speaker. In my Setup the vst instrument causes a infinit loud high pitch sound. I was wearing headphones. Autsch!

My system: i9 9900k windows 10, Ableton 10.

I’ll be so happy when we get a stable version of studiomux.

Thanks for further development!

It would be a public relations disaster to knowingly release a non-functioning app onto the app store, the whole point of running a Beta testing program is to try & catch the bugs before the software is released into the wild.
Studiomux is still working fine on devices running up to ios 13. It is still working as it should on my iPhone 5c running 10.3.3 .

latest sever 5.21 fixed this (see previous posts in this thread). Connection still not working , so we are waiting for the new iPad Test Flight Beta app.

Ok - have the latest iPad studiomux (5.025) and server (5022), OSX 11.1, Ableton Live 10. Here’s the behavior I saw:

1st Attempt:
Opened up studiomux on ipad as I opened up Ableton Live. I picked the StudioMux instrument VST, and could find the ipad and channel - both in menubar and plugin window. Great, that’s new! I picked (probably mistakenly) an IAA app – Agonizer-- on the ipad, it opened up into a new window and Ableton Live crashed.

I think this is where the screen recording began

2nd Attempt:
I quit everything on the iPad and launched Ableton Live as I also started StudioMux on the iPad. As you can see in the video the iPad is found but there’s no channel – that’s because Studiomux opened up Agonizer on the iPad automatically and couldn’t find the channel since it was’t the frontmost app.
Perhaps the reason why it crashed the first time?

on the iPad I flipped back to Studiomux. In Ableton Live the channel was found again (about 1:00 in). I realized the IAA issue and removed Agonizer; I selected Agonizer as AU and dragged it into the first channel. In Ableton there was a spike of sound (about 1:23) but I didn’t hear it. I play midi from my keyboard but I hear no sound. I can see my keyboard as a remote midi controller within studiomux but playing anythig - nothing lights up in the channel.

What’s interesting at around 2:20 I change channel selection within Ableton Live and Studiomux does change the output of the ‘Wuerselen’ instance to the channel selected in ableton so I know they’re talking to each other even though midi doesn’t seem to be triggering anything.

I set everything back to channel 1. I try studiomux’s keyboard and see the midi lightup but no sound (UPDATE: I had changed to AudioKit’s 909 and wasn’t hitting right note; I just went back to this as I’m writing this, popped open it’s interface to hit the snare and sound DID come back to Ableton so I’m going to test in a second – I just want to finish this – though annoyingly detailed – report).

Here’s a link to the 720 version of the screen cap; about 90 megs

One thing I want to add - I'm sure you might not be testing IAA and I should shut off 'launch other apps' on the studiomux prefs, but it does seem that if the app is not the active one, it at least loses channel connectivity

Ignore this as well.

Ok now getting sound back into ableton live but ONLY if I play from the local / studiomux keys – although my keyboard --> laptop --> ableton live --> is getting to studiomux on the ipad (I can see the pulsating circle on the ‘midi’ page) the little light isn’t triggering for the channel.

However if I use the ipad / studiomux keyboard it does send sound to ableton.

So cool, I got audio transmission working for the first time since years. If I share my internet connection with my pc it gets distorted again. But nobody actually needs internet making music. I will report after further testing. But so far am more than happy to hear my my AUM sets in Ableton. Thanks :star_struck:

Are you getting midi fromAbleton? I’m lacking that
