studiomux 5 beta

Seems to be working to some degree, but audio still garbled…(Win 10, ios 14.3 )

no im not able to use my push2 or any midi controler conected to my pc. but im sure it will be possible soon.

i’ve had problems with distorted audio a few times, but the ability to stream multiple channels to ableton has raised my hopes of using my ipad in the studio soon and not just for playing around when i’m not in the studio

Ok can those who are able to beta test please make sure to test making midi controller connections through studio mux to ios apps o make sure that is working when this thing is released?

Done, i forgot the join step

Hi,

latest server and version infos are now available on our website again:

https://zerodebug.com/#/beta

Could you please try the latest server?

Thanks to Covid i do not feel so bad about it, we used last year to partially rewrite our Apps and include them into our Framework. It’s probably the only way we can continue supporting our (not that uncomplex) Apps in Future.

Midi via VST should be restored within the latest Server update.

I cannot get these plugins to show up at all. During the rescan it even shows the name at the bottom! But they are nowhere to be found. I’ve tried resetting permissions, putting them in a folder, and other random things I could think of. This is version 5.025.

I’m on Mojave in Ableton Live. Would really love to test this out!

Also, the update says it should be 5.026 but the download is 5.025

Hi,

sorry for the confusion the Version number always represents the latest iOS build we uploaded to Apple, its not always in sync with the server versions.

Have you checked if the vsts have been installed into the proper path?

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

And Live is set up properly, searching in the right path?

I just signed up to let you know that Studiumux (5.025) still does not work under latest Windows. Here are my observations:

  1. Coming from a fresh Windows install, the latest Itunes won’t work (server disappears from taskbar as soon as you hover over it). I needed to find an older version mentioned somehwere on this forum.
  2. I can’t see the normal vst dlls, had to use VST3.
  3. Connection seems to be working (iPad Pro recognised, connected via USB-C)
  4. Audio is not transmitted properly (tested 44 and 48) ; even with no effect applied. Sounds like some cheap FX synth patch, no matter what settings are chosen.

Hope to see this thing working soon!
Grüße aus Berlin, best wishes

This server build isn’t installing the vst 3’s on installation. After much messing about, i manually copied them from the Zerodebug folder & pasted them into the common files Vst3 folder, & then they showed up in Ableton. Hope this helps…(win 10)

Everything installed in the right location, but not picked by Cubase or ableton. The server sees the iPad.
Peace

Hey Pascal let me know if the videos / information helps or if it’s just noise.

It feels like it’s gone back a step since my tests with the previous version; still not getting midi, and the audio pins meters in ableton. Running 11.1 on Macbook (2019, I really paid out for this one 32gigs RAM, 2TB, vid card upgrade etc).

Ableton crashed once, then I started video on both the mac and ipad (ipad about 3 seconds late). I’m talking through what’s going on in the macbook video.

Midi is not being received from ableton --> studiomux. I don’t have my wired midi keyboard but attempted a bluetooth keyboard as well as macbook keyboard for triggering midi (tested both in ableton with Pigments working). With the bluetooth midi keyboard I don’t even see it showing up as a remote midi controller in ipad studiomux which is odd, no?

I could still play local keyboard on ipad and get audio to ableton. I tested with a second instance of a plugin and it played audio as well but then ableton crashed for a 3rd time. Definitely not solid.

Here’s vids and crash report from osx if interested.

Oh I should add: I made sure I updated ipad studiomux and osx server to the current versions; I manually deleted the previous vst3 and reinstalled via the menubar with no issues. I restarted both macbook and ipad to have fresh start.

Hi,

I finally have audio. but it doesn’t recognize the PUSH setting, which I use harmonically and studiomux plays it chromatically. In the version before the latest updates, it only disabled “user port” or “live port” (I don’t remember which one) but with that I solved the problem. another detail, it closes when I try to route audio and AUDIOBUS does not recognize studiomux like AUM does. The size of the buffer is unstable and it is impossible to change the configuration to not open the apps when opening studiomux.

It would be great to be able to route audio with AUM and thus be able to record incoming audio from ABLETON in my case.

Best,

Hi Grimmwerks,

I just watched most of your first vid. I can’t solve your problem in its entirety but a couple of things stand out.

  1. In Live Session view - check your MIDI tracks are enabled on the channel strip. I can see your MIDI monitor flashing with inputs signal from your BT controller when you say there’s no incoming MIDI there – but in fact the channel is not activated (the red indicator at the bottom of the channel strip).

  2. If you intend to send MIDI to Studiomux you must have the Studiomux OUTPUT device active in Live’s MIDI settings. Other wise there is no path for the MIDI to travel on.

Also a small point that I never hear anybody address…You must have an independent track to connect your controller to the Studiomux port. For whatever reason the track you instantiate the plugin on will not send MIDI to Studiomux directly – it worked previously. Set up a dedicated MIDI routing channel strip alongside the main plugin channel strip.

These points might get you started.

BTW, Pascal…I was joking about the “day in the office” thing…there was no intention to make anybody “feel bad.” Please, keep moving towards the goal!

D’OH you’re absolutely right! Was looking right at it. In my defense: 20 minutes sleep last night (will crash soon). Going to retest now.

Thanks for catching those mistakes!

…well, just crashed with horrible noise, but going to try again.

I’m just testing the latest beta version and it seemed to crash my entire system – or maybe it was just Live 10 being buggy
